Sophie Doyle
Cultural Strategy Consultancy
I work with marketing leaders and agencies across two related problems. The first is upstream strategy — the thinking that happens before the things get made. Problem definition. Cultural intelligence. Brand positioning. The work that determines whether how your brand shows up in this world will matter, or just exist.
The second is structural. A lot of organisations have the strategic intent but not the capability to act on it — the wrong team composition, no coherent operating model, hiring briefs that describe someone who doesn't exist, or a proposition not compelling enough for the shape of people it needs. I help untangle that: team design, role definition, hiring strategy, the operating systems that let good work actually get done.
Who I work with
Three client types, and I'll be honest about all of them.
Brands who know they have a cultural intelligence gap and come upstream for diagnosis and direction. Agencies who know their social and cultural fluency is thin and bring me in to fill it or help build it. And agencies who are selling cultural intelligence to their clients without quite having it, and bring me in to cover the gap without naming it. The third is the most common. It's also the most structurally interesting, because the gap is usually the thing the brief is built around.
How I work
I work as an embedded senior resource — I’m not an agency and I’m not a traditional freelancer. Engagements are project-based or ongoing advisory on retainer.
Ideally you get access to a senior strategic brain and a defined outcome, not a wodge of hours.
I'm not a production resource. I'm not an account manager. I’m not a creative either. I'm the person you bring in when the room is full of smart people who have stopped asking the right questions. I'm someone you can leave with the problem and the client.
